What I Love About Me (Week 8)

This week I am loving that I love being a MOMMY and a MaMe!

I realized this week that MaMe Musings is officially one year old. I celebrated this discovery by reading back through posts: the first letters, the first milestones, the cuteness, the anxiety, the love…

And I was overcome again by how much I love being a mommy and a MaMe.

So many things in life fail to live up to our expectations. Haven’t we all dreamed of something, only to find the dream and the reality are far removed? For years I prayed to be a mommy, dreaming of what it would be like to have my own child. Blessed beyond measure with not one but two children, I can honestly say that being a mommy surpassed all of my expectations. I am not glossing over the challenges, but truthfully, I thank God every day for my babies. Without a doubt, they are the biggest blessings of my life. It’s such an understatement to say I love watching them grow, learn, laugh.

Writing this blog has allowed me to capture these everyday miracles, share them with others, and relive them anew as I revisit the words and pictures. This weekend, I ran into a friend, who I mainly keep up with through Facebook, and she shared how much she enjoys reading MaMe Musings.

Makes. Me. Smile.

I always love it when new people tell me they read MaMe Musings.

Makes. Me. Smile.

I love comments, especially those people take time to leave on Facebook or on the blog. I love it when someone chooses to follow MaMe Musings, knowing that each person connected through MaMe Musings enriches my experience as a mommy.

Makes.Me.Smile.

Here’s a replay of my very first MaMe Musings post from July 2010:

Welcome to MaMe Musings, my first real blog, and my attempt to document and share the most incredible experience of my life--being a mommy.

MaMe stands for M(arty) a(ndrew) M(elissa) e(mily), and I freely admit that this blog will be all about us and our new twins. Yes, here, I will be THAT person who self-indulgently brags about her children's daily feats.

Perhaps this blog will help me slow down so I might appreciate each day while I take time to reflect and grow from the daily miracle we call life. Many of my early posts will be sort of a retrospective as I try to look back and document how we have arrived at this divine place in our lives. I imagine many entries will attempt to capture a moment, share our joy, express our exhaustion, or pass along tough lessons learned.

While I have already learned that life with twins leaves very little "me" time, it is my intention to carve out some space on a regular basis to keep this blog going. As I type, I realize that I have been working on this entry for almost two weeks! Then again, I think that's not too bad for someone who is feeding two babies about every three hours! Don't even get me started on how many bottles I wash in one day.

Who will be interested in these MaMe Musings? Who knows? While I would love to connect and share with others, ultimately, this blog is a gift to my children. One day I hope Emily and Andrew will read this blog and realize how much they are loved and wanted and how we were honored to be chosen as their parents.

What do you about YOU this week?

What I Love About Me! Blog Hop - Week 8
"The wise know the value of friendship, and that it is wisdom to be a friend to oneself too." -A.C. Grayling

Welcome to Week 8 of "What I Love About Me!" hosted by Twins Plus One, Three Times the Fun and Twingle Mommy!

Here's how it works -
Write a post about what you love about yourself this week and then add it to the linky list below. This is intended to be a time and place for each of us to stop criticizing ourselves for a few minutes and actually remind ourselves of the characteristics we are proud to own. So go ahead, look in the mirror, and see yourself through your loved one's eyes. Notice the beauty first. Here's your place to shine!

A few simple guidelines -

Please follow the two hostesses. If you are a new follower, please comment so we can follow you too! :)
We'd love it if you posted the button and the linky list, but it is not mandatory. The button code is on my left sidebar.
Feel free to link to your homepage or your specific "What I Love About Me!" post. We want this to be a fun, relaxing hop so we'll accept all links as long as they are family-friendly. Thanks!
The linky will be open all week so feel free to link-up on your own time!

Wow...I loved reading the introduction you wrote to your blog. You said it took you two weeks to write (which I can believe, based on the craziness of those first few months), but I can tell you put a lot of effort into it, too. It's interesting to me how much forethought you had. I can't say I knew exactly where I wanted to go with my blog when I started...although I love where I am today. :) :)

From one twin momma to another - I love reading that you love being a mom to twins. Isn't it amazing? I mean.... when I think about this incredible bond - my heart melts. I didn't start my blog after the twins, but after the birth of our third child - last year - who has a rare chromosomal disorder. His blessing has graced our family a million times over. I'm glad I found your blog. Kristen

Thanks for linking up! I love your post. I use my blog to document my kiddos lives too. It's going by so fast and I can't believe that my twins are almost 2.
